Charges
Payment methods, discounts, service charges, tax and suggested tips.
This is where you define how you get paid: what people pay with, which discounts exist, what gets added to a check, and how tax is worked out. Whatever you set here shows up at the terminal at the moment of charging.
Payment methods
Select New payment method, give it the name your team already uses — "Cash", "Card terminal" — and pick its kind: cash, credit card, debit card, transfer, points, gift card or other.
The kind matters: the cash count only treats a method as cash if its kind is cash. A method called "Cash" but marked as "Other" disappears from the close-out.
If the method corresponds to a physical card terminal, enter its serial so you can reconcile payments against your bank statement.
Discounts
A discount is a reduction someone applies by hand at the terminal — "Student", "On the house". Define it as a Percentage or a Fixed amount.
Who can apply them depends on the role's Discounts permission.
Service charges
A service charge is added to the check: built-in gratuity, cover charge, whatever you use. It also goes as a percentage or a fixed amount.
Tax and tips
- Tax (%) — the rate that applies to your sales.
- Prices already include tax — turn it on if your menu is in final prices. The receipt breaks the tax out without adding it again.
- Suggested tips (%) — the percentages offered as buttons when charging, separated by commas:
10, 15, 20.
