Storage areas
Kitchen, bar, cold room — stock by area and transfers between them.
A storage area is a physical place where stock lives: the kitchen, the bar, the cold room. Each keeps its own balance, and the property-wide total stays a single number — reports and low-stock alerts don't change.
The main area
Every property has a main area (the first one is called "General"; rename it whenever you like). Movements that don't pick an area land there: point-of-sale sales, and receipts with no destination chosen. Any active area can be made the main one.
Creating areas
In Inventory → Storage areas, select New area.
Name it after the real place: "Bar", "Cold room", "Hot kitchen".
If an area falls out of use, deactivate it — its ledger history stays.
Transfers
A transfer moves stock from one area to another: cold room to kitchen, storeroom to bar. From Stock, select Transfer, pick the item, the source, the destination and the quantity. The transfer shows in the ledger on both sides and never changes the property-wide total.
You can't transfer more than the source area holds — if the count is off, fix it with an adjustment first.
Where each balance shows
- Stock shows the total per item; the filters up top break it down by area.
- Each item's page shows its balance in every area, and the area on every ledger movement.
- Entries, waste and receipts ask for the area as you record them.
