Promotions
Scheduled discounts that apply themselves at the terminal.
A promotion is a discount with a calendar: happy hour from six to eight, taco Tuesday, a month off desserts. It applies itself when the clock and the date line up, without anyone having to remember at the terminal.
Creating a promotion
Select New promotion and name it — "Happy hour", "2-for-1 tacos".
Pick the type: Percentage or Fixed amount per unit.
Set what it applies to: the Whole order, certain Categories, or specific Products.
Set when it runs: dates, times, and days of the week.
Select Create promotion.
How the schedule works
- No dates = always.
- No times = all day.
- If the end time is earlier than the start time, the promotion crosses midnight.
22:00–02:00is a late-night promotion, not a mistake. - Days of the week narrow it further: a promotion with
MonandTueticked only runs those days, within its date and time range.
Turning one on and off
An Inactive promotion stops applying without losing its setup. That's what you want for something seasonal that will come back. Delete is for what won't.
How it looks at the terminal
On the check it appears as Promo −$XX, separate from a manual discount. That way you can tell what the system decided from what a person decided, and the guest's receipt separates them too.
