Recipes

Preparations with a yield and sub-recipes — what your dishes consume when sold.

Needs Stock

A recipe is a preparation: salsa, dough, dressing. It has a yield in servings and a list of ingredients, and from those comes its cost per serving.

It does two jobs: telling you what a dish really costs, and deducting the right things from inventory when it sells.

Creating a recipe

  1. Select New recipe and name it — "Red salsa".

  2. Enter how many servings it Yields.

  3. Add the ingredients: pick the item and enter the quantity the whole recipe takes, not one serving's worth.

  4. Select Create recipe.

Cost per serving works itself out from each item's cost and the yield. If the price of tomatoes goes up, the cost of your salsa goes up without you touching anything.

Sub-recipes

A recipe can use others. Your tacos take red salsa, and the red salsa is its own recipe with its own items.

Under Sub-recipes, add the recipe and how many servings it consumes. Cost propagates upward.

Linking it to a dish

A recipe on its own deducts nothing. Go to the product in Point of sale → Menu, to Inventory consumption, and add it. There you set how many servings that dish consumes.

When the order is charged, those servings resolve into items and come off stock.
