Production
Produce batches of your recipes and track the prepped item on hand.
Some recipes aren't made to order: the salsa gets made in a batch in the morning and sells all week. Production is where you record that batch — the ingredients leave stock, the prepped item comes in, and from then on every sale draws from the prepped item, not the ingredients.
Turning on production for a recipe
Open the recipe and, in the Production card, pick the prepped unit and select Turn on production. You can also turn it on from the list on the Production page.
The system creates the prepped item with the recipe's name and manages it for you: the name follows the recipe and the unit stays fixed.
Done: the recipe shows up under Inventory → Production. 1 unit of the prepped item equals 1 portion of the recipe's yield.
Producing a batch
In Production, each recipe shows what's on hand, the yield per batch and what a batch costs. Enter how many batches you made — you'll see which ingredients it will consume and whether any are short — and select Produce: the ingredients leave the ledger, the prepped item comes in (yield × batches), and the batch lands in the history on the same page. If you keep storage areas, pick where it was made.
What happens on a sale
A dish whose component is a recipe with a prepped item draws down the prepped item when it sells — the ingredients already left when the batch was produced, so nothing is deducted twice. Recipes without a prepped item work as always: the sale consumes the ingredients directly.
The prepped item's cost
Each batch computes its cost from the ingredients at their current cost, and updates the prepped item's cost per unit (batch cost ÷ units produced). If an ingredient is missing a cost, the batch lands without one and the prepped item keeps the cost it had.
Tips
Turning production off
Turn it off and sales go back to consuming the ingredients directly. If the prepped item still has stock, it stays visible under Items so you can use it up or record it as waste; once it hits zero and nothing references it, it archives itself.
