Absences

Record leave, sick days and vacation, and how they affect the schedule.

Needs Team

An absence is a day — or a range — when someone isn't coming in. Recording it stops them being scheduled by mistake and keeps the vacation count current.

Recording an absence

  1. Select Record absence and pick the person.

  2. Pick the type. Types are defined by your property in Team settings.

  3. Enter the date. If it's several days, enter the To (inclusive) date as well — the last day counts.

  4. Add a note if needed, and Record.

What each type does

Every absence type carries two switches, set in settings:

  • Blocks the schedule — those days can't be scheduled. That's what you want for vacation and sick leave.
  • Deducts vacation — takes days off the person's vacation balance.

An absence that neither blocks nor deducts is just a record — useful for logging a late arrival or unpaid leave.

On the schedule

Days with an absence are flagged on the week. If someone was already scheduled and you record a blocking absence, the cell warns you.
